God has a specific calling for my life. Those of you who know me personally know exactly what I am talking about. Since I was about 12 years old, God has called me to Salvation Army Officership – to serve Him in ministry with The Salvation Army.
Over the next three years, I will be embarking on this journey to what is called “Officership”. In this upcoming series of blog posts, I will be recounting the story of my journey thus far and how God is working at the present time in guiding me to His calling on my life.
The Salvation Army’s Officer Candidate website describes Officership as the following:
Salvation Army officers see lives changed, bring hope and practical help to humanity as they share the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ. Their work will often be among the poorest and neediest of our society. All of them will make a difference: some as corps officers (pastors) and others as administrators of Salvation Army rehabilitation centers for those recovering from addictions. Still other officers may work in Salvation Army social service centers, while some find their calling to work in other cultures and countries. Each officer carries the message of love. Each officer is the voice of God in the place where he or she is needed. A Salvation Army officer is a fully ordained and trained evangelical minister of the Gospel.
My desire is to see God work through me to fulfill the Army’s mission of saving souls, growing saints, and serving suffering humanity; and to see the Army’s vision of One Army with One Mission and One Message to be carried out to the ends of the earth. I hope you will join me in this journey to Officership!
