Journey to Officership: Milestone

The dictionary defines a milestone as “a significant event or stage in the life.”  Today is a milestone in my journey to officership.  It’s a milestone I have looked forward to for about 10 years.

Today I have been ACCEPTED as a candidate for the Messengers of Light session!

I am so excited that after years of listening to God’s call, preparing myself, and patiently waiting I can finally say that I am going to be a cadet and, in just over two years, an officer!  But God did not call me just to be an officer.  He called me to be his minister to a lost and dying world.  He called me to be a teacher and shepherd of his flock of believers.  He called me to be a messenger of the light – the good news of the gospel!

I continue to ask for your prayers over these next few months leading up to training.  I ask you to pray for the other men and women in the candidate process.  I ask you to pray for the cadets and officers already at CFOT as they prepare to welcome us and disciple us.  I ask you to pray that God would raise up more men and women to answer the call to officership.

May God continue to bless The Salvation Army!

And now, hallelujah! the rest of my days
Shall gladly be spent in promoting His praise
Who opened His bosom to pour out this sea
Of boundless salvation for you and for me.
